Gutter cleaning is an easy job to put off, but the longer you wait the worse it can get. Thoroughly cleaning your gutters before the onset on winter will keep them working like their supposed to. Avoiding it can damage your roof and house structure. The gutter system of a house is designed to move water down from the house and away from the home and its foundation.
The first and most obvious issue with gutters filled with leaves, twigs and other debris is that when this matter gets wet in the rain they absorb water like a sponge. It becomes extremely heavy and puts stress on the gutters and their brackets and can even pull the gutters off their wall.
The other problem is if the gutters cannot move the water down and away from the house then the water will eventually get into the roof or worse inside the walls of your house.
